Charges held for court in sexual assault case
The majority of charges have been held for court against a Uniontown man accused of sexually assaulting a young girl at home this past summer in Uniontown. Uniontown police Detective Donald M. Gmitter said William Junior Savage, 32, was charged Sept. 28 with two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, three counts of aggravated indecent assault, three counts of indecent assault and a single count of corruption of minors.
During a preliminary hearing Tuesday before Senior Magisterial District Judge Robert Breakiron, Fayette County Assistant District Attorney Jack R. Heneks Jr. withdrew the charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse because he said that the case did not support the charges.
Savage then waived the remaining charges against him to Fayette County Court.
Heneks said Savage agreed to a tentative plea deal that would result in a prison term of 5 to 10 years.
According to Gmitter, the charges were filed against Savage after the girl reported that Savage touched her sexually on multiple occasions at a residence in Uniontown between June and August.
The girl told investigators that the sexual misconduct occurred nearly every day during the summer months, Gmitter said.
The girl told police that Savage’s actions made her “mad and sad,” Gmitter said.
The Herald-Standard does not identify the victims of alleged sexual assault.
Savage remains in the Fayette County Prison on $50,000 straight cash bond.
