Fayette man hit on interstate

By The 1 min read

State police said a Fayette County man is in stable condition after being hit by a car Wednesday afternoon while walking along Interstate 79 in Washington County. Trooper Jason M. Churney said Ralph Core, 42, of Uniontown was hit be a car driven by Ray Lowden, 23, of Amity.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. near mile marker 44 in North Strabane Township.

According to Churney, Core was walking along Interstate 79 to retrieve the license plate from his vehicle that was knocked off as a result of a separate minor crash.

Churney said Lowden was traveling south on Interstate 79 and that slow traffic forced Lowden to apply the brakes on his vehicle, causing him to lose control of the car.

Churney said Lowden’s car rotated and traveled onto the left berm and median, striking Core.

Police did not say what hospital Core was taken to.

Lowden was not injured as a result of the crash, according to police.
