German Twp. announces tax collection changes

GERMAN TWP. – German Township supervisors on Tuesday announced changes concerning tax collections. The tax collector’s office has been moved from the municipal building to 1026 McClellandtown Road, the former site of Route 21 Beer Distributor.

New office hours are in effect. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays. Beginning next year, extended hours and Saturday hours will be added. Residents will receive more information when the 2010 tax notices are mailed out.

In other matters, the township received $25,155 as part of the state’s allocation to support volunteer fire departments.

The township plans to distribute the money among the five volunteer fire departments in the township.

They are: Adah, Footedale, Ronco, Edenborn and McClellandtown departments.

The supervisors also commented on the success of the Browns Run Trail banquet that was held recently and thanked township secretary Martha Babic and everyone else involved with holding the event.

The township is currently finishing the last of its improvement projects for the year, including:

n Paving in Ralph is expected to be finished at the end of this week or beginning of next week.

n The installation of a new water line along Lutheran Church Road is nearing completion.

n A water line extension project is wrapping up in Shimko Hollow.

n The Ralph-New Salem Road water line extension is being finished.

The next meeting has been scheduled for 6 p.m. Dec. 8.
