Willis C. Smith
Willis C. Smith, 89 of Smithfield, Pa. died suddenly on Tuesday, November 10, 2009. He was born March 20, 1920, in Terra Alta, Wv., son of the late Oliver and Clara Hartman Smith.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Edna Smith, Charles Smith, Dale Smith, Bill Smith and twin sister, Wilma Hoover.
He was the last surviving member of his parents’ immediate family.
He was a miner for many years and retired from US Steel Maple Creek Mine and a member of UMWA Local 1248. He was also a member of the Smithfield United Methodist Church, Smithfield Lions Club and the former Fairchance Bowling League.
Surviving are his loving family, children: Sharon Bealko and husband, Robert, Dunbar, Pa., Gloria Jane Martin and husband, Graham, Glaston-bury, Ct. and Mark R. Smith and wife, Janet, Smithfield, Pa.; grandchildren; Stacey Wallach and husband, Corey, Robert Bealko and wife, Brook, Meghan Martin, Kevin Martin, Robert Martin, Cody Smith and wife, Shawna, Nathan Smith and Christopher Smith and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. today, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, November 13, 2009 until 11 a.m. the hour of service, Pastor Joseph L. Condoluci officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
