Janet L. Banks, 88, of Uniontown died peacefully Monday, November 2, 2009, at home. She was born February 28, 1920 in Scottdale, the daughter of the late Donald Porter and Lulu Gallentine Porter.

Janet is survived by her son Rodney T. Banks of Uniontown; a sister Patricia Pletcher of Scottdale; many nieces, nephews; and long time caregiver Linda Childs.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa.

Visitation will take place in the ASBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH on Saturday, November 14, 2009 from 10 a.m. until 11a.m., with a memorial service celebrating Janet’s life beginning at 11 a.m. in the Smith Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Brown officiating.

Interment will be private. Memorial emails may be sent to the family at memorials@adferguson.com.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society.
