John H. David
John H. David, age 69, of Louisa, Kentucky went to be with our Heavenly Father on Monday, November 2, 2009 after a long fight with cancer. He was born on April 7, 1940 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania beloved son of Simon David and Anna (Stepanik) David.
John married his true love, Maxine Jolly, on October 15, 1960.
John was an active member of the United Steel Workers Union 14693 and was honored in 2008 when he was inducted into the Steel Workers’ Union Hall of Fame for his selfless dedication and numerous years of service. He was affectionately called “Ditch” by those who knew the long and strenuous hours he spent digging ditches while working on the roads and bridges.
John was also an avid golfer who played at all of the local courses.
John was preceded in death by his parents and was the brother of the late Anna Marie David, Francis “Fran” (Baxter) David and Simon “Junebug” David.
John is survived by his six children: John (Joyce) David, Kevin David, Eric (Jeanne) David, Andrea (Gordon) Cooke, Mattie David, Curtis David. He is also survived by brothers: Fred “Hawk” David and Joseph “Joey” David; ten grandchildren: Ian, Zachary and Caleb; Erica and Alicia; Danielle, Alexis, Samantha, Seth and Lucy; two great grandchildren: Kelsey and Aydan; also ten nieces and nephews.
John was buried in the Cooke Family Cemetery located at their home site in Louisa, Kentucky on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 with Pastor Ric Frazier presiding.
