Uniontown man charged with robbery

By Josh Krysak 2 min read

A Uniontown man is behind bars after he allegedly robbed a dollar store in South Union Township in late September. State police Trooper Robert Reitler said Kevin D. Price Jr., 26, was charged Friday before Magisterial District Judge Randy S. Abraham with robbery, criminal conspiracy to commit robbery, theft, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Reitler said the charges were filed against Price after he broke into the Dollar Tree store off Matthew Drive at 9:10 p.m. Sept. 29.

Reitler said Price, wearing a mask, approached employees Leslie Masi and another woman, no addresses available, as they were leaving the business and ordered them to give him money.

He was brandishing a small, silver handgun, Reitler said.

Reitler said the suspect forced the employees back inside the store, where they gave him a plastic bag filled with money.

After grabbing the bag, Reitler said Price then fled on foot past the Target store and across New Salem Road.

Neither woman was injured during the robbery.

Through his investigation, Reitler learned that Price had conspired with the unidentified employee to commit the heist.

The woman’s identity is being withheld pending the formalization of charges against her.

Reitler said in an interview with police Thursday, the woman admitted to investigators that she helped Price organize the heist, allowed him to use her car to flee the scene and took $100 in payoff money from him following the robbery.

Price was placed in the Fayette County Prison on $50,000 straight cash bond following his arraignment before Abraham.

A preliminary hearing will be held at a later date before Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr.
