Clyda May Thomas was born in Uniontown, Pa on May 8, 1925. She departed this life peacefully on November 16, 2009 at LaFayette Manor Nursing Home, Uniontown, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Alverta Thomas, her son Earl Neal Moorman, her brothers Francis and Edward Thomas and her sister Alverta Sims.

Clyda Thomas was a long standing member of Mt. Rose Baptist Church, Uniontown, Pa. She had a passion for dancing and appeared in the Apollo Theater Amateur Talent Show which she won at a very young age.

She had an uncanny ability to watch a dancer and emulate their every step. In the 1950’s Clyda Thomas organized a variety show at LaFayette School in Uniontown. This variety show made up of local talent and family members, originally planned for one evening, was so successful that it ran for two nights.

She is survived by her son John P. Moorman; her brother James Albert Thomas (Cheryl); four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Her viewing will take place (today) Friday, November 20, 2009 from 5 – 8 p.m. and on Saturday, November 21 from 10 to 11 a.m., the Hour of Service at MT.ROSE BAPTIST CHURCH Grant and Main Streets in Uniontown, Pa.

Arrangements are entrusted to LANTZ FUNERAL HOME.
