Berry awarded child credential

By Herald Standard Staff 1 min read

McClellandtown Danielle Berry of McClellandtown has been awarded a child development associate (CDA) credential in recognition of outstanding work with young children. The Council for Professional Recognition in Washington, D.C., which represents the early childhood education profession, awarded the credential. CDA is the only major national effort to improve early childhood education and care by evaluation and recognition of the skills of individuals providing care, a spokesman for the council said.

CDA, as part of its assessment process, observes every candidate for credentials while he is working with young children or families. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to work with families to develop children’s physical and intellectual capacities in a safe and healthy learning environment.

Child care staff and parents wanting more information on CDA may write to the Council for Professional Recognition, 2460 16th St., NW, Washington, D.C., 20009-3547 or call 1-800-424-4310.
