William “Billy” Leech, Jr.
0000366071-01-1.jpg William “Billy” Leech, Jr. age 78 years of Smithfield, Pa. passed away quietly Monday November 23, 2009 in the Uniontown Hospital following a lingering illness. He was a lifelong resident of Smithfield, having been born in Smithfield, Pa on April 7, 1931 a son of the now late William S. Leech and Rosalee (Robinson) Leech.
He was a member of Mt Moriah Baptist Church, Smithfield, Pa, where he served as Deacon and Choir member for many years. He belonged to the Paul Tarcy Sunday School Class. He loved fishing and enjoyed hunting.
He was an accomplished musician especially playing the banjo and played music in church and throughout the area for many years.
He was a co-owner and operator of the well known “Leech Brothers Painting and Wall-papering” of Smithfield along with his brother Joe Leech.
He loved raising cattle and farmed for many years.
He is survived by his wife Margaret (Parlor) Leech and the following children: Marjorie Hartman and husband Brock of Smithfield, Pa, William Bradley Leech and his wife Cynthia of Lake Lynn, Pa. Mark Leech and his wife Margie of Smithfield, Pa., Beth Dennis and her husband Rodney of Uniontown, Pa. and Belinda Leech of Smithfield, Pa; eight grand children; two brothers: Joe Leech and his wife Doris of Smithfield, Pa and Ron Leech and his wife Jean of Uniontown, Pa.
The family will receive friends in the JOHN F. BROWNFIELD FUNERAL HOME of Smithfield, Pa. on
Thursday from 7 to 9, Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and on Saturday November 28, 2009 in the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Smithfield, Pa. from 11 a.m. until 12 Noon when services will be conducted with Reverend Jay Hurley, his pastor officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Moriah Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may make contributions to the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Church St., Smithfield, PA 15478 in his memory.
