Matthew Paul Cobert, 83, of Tampa, Florida, formerly of Hague, VA, Alexandria, VA and Berkeley Springs, WV, passed away Nov. 22, 2009. He enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and served in WWII, and the Korean War, retiring as Master Chief Petty Officer after 22 years of service. In civilian life he worked for COMSAT/INTELSAT Communications Corp, retiring after 20 years of service.

Born in Hopwood, PA on December 3, 1925 to Thomas H. and Katherine (Granshaw) Cobert. He was the loving husband of the late Millie Meyers Cobert (nee. Lowery).

He is survived by his stepson, William Archie Meyers, Indian Lake Estates, FL, three brothers, Arthur T. Cobert, Isle of Palms, SC, George W. Cobert, Columbia, MD and Harlan M. Cobert, Woodstock, VA, granddaughter, Krista (Meyers) Endres and grandson, William Arthur Meyers, Winter Haven, FL, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by sister, Ethel Jane Springer and three brothers, Wallace, Samuel and Robert Cobert.

A graveside service and interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010.
