Lois Jean Lawson Herring, daughter of Helen E. Miniafee and the late Fred D. Sims, was born December 13, 1943 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. She departed this life on Tuesday, November 24, 2009. Lois graduated with the Class of 1961 from Uniontown High School.

After spending a brief time in Fort Knox, Kentucky she made Buffalo, New York her home. She soon settled into a career in the insurance industry where she worked for nearly 30 years before retiring from Lincoln Financial Group in 2000.

Everlasting memories will always be cherished by her devoted children: Lenaire Herring Sr. of Buffalo, New York and Jenene Herring Seymour and husband Harry of Mint Hill, North Carolina; four grandchildren: Lenaire Jr. and Lendia of Buffalo, New York and Hunter and Jaden of Mint Hill, North Carolina; her mother, Helen Miniafee of Uniontown, Pennsylvania; two brothers: Ronald (Doreen) Miniafee of Uniontown, Pa., and Clyde (Mona) Sims of Boothwyn, Pennsylvania; six sisters: Kim (Terry) Chandler, April Grady, Kylie Sims Thomas, Nila Sims, Misty Sims all of Uniontown, Pennsylvania and Alcinda Sims of Alexandria, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Sims, and her brother, Daniel Sims.

Family will receive Friends on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at the MOUNT ROSE BAPTIST CHURCH, 9 South Grant Street, Uniontown, Pa. at 11 a.m., the hour of Service.

Interment will follow immediately after in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
