Longbeards donate turkeys to needy
The Mon-Valley Longbeards Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation stepped up to help less fortunate families in the area by offering warm smiles and hearty meals this holiday season. Through the Turkey Hunters Care program, the Mon-Valley Longbeards Chapter provided 220 turkeys to families in the area to help complete the traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.
Chapter volunteers distributed 220 frozen domestic turkeys to the following foodbanks – South Hills Interfaith Ministries, Shiloh Baptist, Olivet Presbyterian Church, Greater Washington County Food Bank, Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, St. Sebastian’s Church, St. John Church to help families in the area have a holiday to remember.
“The Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays are times for family, but they are also a time when many families are in need,” said NWTF CEO George Thornton. “Turkey Hunters Care is a great way for the NWTF’s volunteers to help these families during some of the most celebrated holidays of the year.”
