Sparkle urges readers to donate to campaign

By Frances Borsodi Zajac 2 min read

With the holiday season now in full swing, Sparkle urges Herald-Standard readers to consider donating to the Give-A-Christmas campaign. “Donations now stand at $2,500 and we have a long way to reach our goal of raising $40,000 for the Salvation Army,” said the official mascot for the campaign. “And this year, the Salvation Army needs our help more than ever.”

Donations to the campaign will continue to be received until noon Wednesday, Dec. 23. The final amount raised will be reported in the Christmas Eve edition of the newspaper.

Contributions will be sent to the service unit of the Salvation Army that provides for the area in which the donor lives, but readers can designate their gift go to any service unit in the Herald-Standard readership area.

Service units do not share funds.

That means that Herald-Standard readers who live in the Uniontown area will see their donations go to the Uniontown Worship and Service Center. Those who live in Brownsville and Masontown will have their donations go to the Albert Gallatin Service Center.

Donations by Connellsville area residents will go to the Connellsville Service Center. Donations from Hopwood and Farmington residents will be used by the Hopwood-Markleysburg Service Unit. Vanderbilt residents will have funds sent to the Perryopolis-Dawson Service Unit. And all donations from Greene County residents will go to the Greene County Service Center.

Donations can be mailed to Give-A-Christmas, PO. Box 1147, Uniontown, Pa. 15401, or brought to the Herald-Standard office in Uniontown during business hours.

Sparkle cans also have been placed in 250 store locations in the Herald-Standard distribution area.

Sparkle donations can also be made at the Salvation Army’s Christmas Castle at Uniontown Mall.
