Joseph Andrew Warchol Sr.

Joseph Andrew Warchol Sr., age 92, of Flatwoods, Pa., passed away peacefully on Friday morning, November 27, 2009 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 24, 1917 in Oliver, Pa., the son of the late Lawrence Warchol and Mary Lendecki Warchol.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Dorothy Barbara Garcher Warchol; his sister, Mary Warchol and brothers: Lawrence Warchol and Frank Warchol.

Joseph is survived by his loving and devoted children: Joyce Ann Cassel and husband William of Dickerson Run, Cheryl J. Usher and husband Thomas of Perryopolis, Rosemary Thomas and husband Gary of Flatwoods, Nancy Sebeck and husband Joseph of Grindstone, Janet Guthrie and husband Roger of Flatwoods and Joseph Andrew Warchol Jr. at home; his grandchildren whom he adored: Amy Lewis and husband Ben, Beth Gooch and husband Jeff, Tami Mrosko and husband James, Bryan Usher and wife Erica, Krista Usher, Scott Usher, Kim Wystepek and husband Mike, Gary Thomas, Angie Thomas, Joey Sebeck, Jeffrey Sebeck, Janay Sebeck, Ryan Guthrie, Jason Guthrie and Jillian Guthrie; great-grand children: Abigail Wystepek, Molly Wystepek and Isabelle Rose Usher; sisters: Helen Vaughan of Strongsville, Ohio and Nellie Connelly of Strongsville, Ohio and several loving nieces and nephews.

He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and member of the Holy Name Society. Joseph served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. He was a Corporal in the European Theatre, in the 85th Division, 403rd Field Artillery. He retired from U.S. Steel, Homestead Works in 1983 and he was a member of the VFW Post 47. Joseph owned and operated a farm most of his lifetime and enjoyed watching baseball.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the Fayette Home Care and Hospice employees for the wonderful care of Joseph.

Friends will be received in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown this morning (Monday, November 30, 2009) until 11 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held followed by a 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown with Rev. Father Alexander L. Pleban as celebrant and Rev. Father James F. Petrovsky as con-celebrant.

Interment follows in Flatwoods-Bowman Cemetery. Military Honors with be accorded by the VFW Post 47, Uniontown, Pa.

Visitation was also held on Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m.

The Holy Name Society recited the Rosary at 4 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral Home.
