Kimberly A. Oriole “Kim”
Kimberly “Kim” A. Oriole, 48, of Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania formerly of Salem, Ohio died Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2009 after a three-year fight with lung cancer. Born on July 9, 1961 she is survived by her husband, Scott Bortree of Ohiopyle; by her brother and his wife, Tim and Janine Oriole of Pelham, New Hampshire; nieces: Brittany Oriole of Oklahoma, Jordyn Oriole and Shannon Oriole both Pelham, New Hampshire; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Heather Oriole, of neuro-endocrine cancer; and her father, Richard Oriole.
Never a smoker, “Kim” was one of about 20,000 non-smokers expected to die from lung cancer every year in the United States-a phenomenon that is growing. Lung cancer in never-smokers is the sixth biggest cancer killer in total-killing about 162,000 smokers, former smokers and non-smokers every year. That’s more than breast, colon, prostrate and pancreatic cancers combined according tothe National Cancer Institute Please be aware of your breathing and lung health.
“Kim” had worked as a newspaper reporter for the Dominion Post in Morgantown, West Virginia from 1995 until 2007; Fayetteville Observer (Fayetteville, North Carolina) from 1987 until 1995; and the Gallup Independent (Gallup, New Mexico) from 1984 until 1986.
“Kim” graduated Cum Laude from Kent State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism in 1983 and from Salem High School (Salem, Ohio) in 1979.
She will be cremated and sprinkled in some of her favorite places.
