Suspect faces trial in fatal assault
All charges against a man accused of beating to death a Greene County woman were held for court following a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Washington County. State police charged 38-year-old Larry James Boyd Jr. of Buffalo Township, Washington County, with one count each of criminal homicide and aggravated assault, alleging that Boyd killed Anna Marie Lutz, 24, of Rices Landing at Boyd’s home between the hours of 11:30 p.m. Friday and 7:50 a.m. Saturday.
Trooper David M. Leonard said Lutz’s body was found on the back porch of the home at 1058 S. Sunset Beach Road around 8 a.m. Saturday.
Officials said Lutz had been living with Boyd at his home.
Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said an autopsy showed Lutz died from head and neck injuries and ruled her death a homicide.
According to a criminal complaint filed in the case, Boyd told police he can’t remember what happened the night Lutz was killed.
The complaint indicated that Boyd told police he remembers getting into an argument with Lutz after he and Lutz spent an evening out with friends. Boyd said he and Lutz then made up and that he went to bed. Police said Boyd claims he has no memory of what happened from that point on.
However, Boyd told police no one else was in the home and could not explain fresh cuts on his knuckles.
Officials said Lutz had multiple bruises on her head and face and one on her chest, indicating that she had been hit several times.
Boyd was arraigned on the charges and placed in Washington County Prison without bond.
Following a preliminary hearing Wednesday, Magisterial District Judge Curtis Thompson ordered that Boyd be held for court on all charges. He was remanded to the Washington County Jail.
