Uniontown police investigating alleged robbery
Uniontown police are investigating a robbery that allegedly occurred in the city Friday. Annette Stewart, 38, of Hopwood told police she was on her way to a local bar when a man approached her vehicle while stopped at a red light at the intersection of East Main and Grant streets.
Officer Thomas Kolencik said Stewart reported both front windows of her vehicle were down and that the man approached the driver’s side window and punched her in the left side of her face.
Stewart said the man then leaned across her and grabbed her purse that was sitting on the center console of the vehicle before fleeing, Kolencik said.
Kolencik said Stewart reported that she put her vehicle in park and chased after the man on foot.
As Stewart began to approach the man, he allegedly turned around, pointed a gun at her and said, “Get back or I’ll kill you.”
Kolencik said that Stewart reported the man then reached into her purse, took out her wallet containing $400 in cash, her driver’s license and credits cards, and dropped the purse on the ground.
Stewart then got back in her vehicle and drove to the bar on Dixon Boulevard where she was meeting friends, Kolencik said, noting that Stewart told police she didn’t immediately call 911 or drive to the police station because she wanted to get someplace where she felt safe.
Kolencik said Stewart described the male as being a black male wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt. Police patrolled the area looking for a man who met the description but were unable to locate a suspect, Kolencik said.
