Meetings have begun to gain input into Fayette Forward’s 2020 Vision, Fayette County’s new strategic plan. However, unlike the first strategic plan adopted more than a decade ago, this one will have a dual focus: on the county as a whole and on individual communities.

Community meetings will be held in October and November and again beginning in March 2010.

The overall aim of the plan is to improve the quality of life in the county.

All county residents are invited to participate in the community meetings. Calling it Vision 2020, the new strategic plan will develop goals to be completed by the year 2020.

Participants will be asked questions to think about, including what do people value, how do they see the future and what’s needed in their community.

The schedule of meetings follows:

n Vanderbilt, 196 Main St., 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

n South Connellsville Municipal Building, 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday.

n Connellsville, Bud Murphy’s, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

n Brownsville, Sons of Italy, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 14.

n Fairchance Borough Building, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 19.

n Bullskin Township Municipal Building, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 20.

n Dunbar, Dunbar Fire Department social hall, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 22.

n Uniontown, Niagara Bank Building (formerly National City Bank), 2 W. Main St., 2 to 4 p.m. and an evening session from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47, West Main Street, Oct. 27.

n Ohiopyle Community Center, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 28.
