Police serving warrant end up arresting 3 others
Serving a warrant on a man in a Uniontown tavern early Thursday ended with multiple suspects facing charges following an altercation with police officers. Uniontown police Sgt. Jonathan Grabiak said when he and officers Ray Miller and Dave Hromada took Broderick Harris into custody at a bar on North Gallatin Avenue shortly after 1 a.m., a group of people from inside the establishment followed officers out of the building and began to shout at them.
Grabiak said the group of 10 to 15 people began calling police vulgar names and that Harris’ brother, Michael E. Harris, 20, of Adah, had to be restrained by other family members from charging at police.
Grabiak said police continued to order the crowd to disperse but said that the group ignored police commands.
He said Michael Harris broke free from family members and ran from the scene while telling officers that he had a gun.
Grabiak said Michael Harris returned a few minutes later and had his hand in the waistband of his pants and told officers that he was going to shoot them.
Grabiak said the crowd continued to become more unruly and he had to threaten to use his Taser on Michael Harris to get him to comply with police commands.
At that point, Grabiak said Hromada radioed the state police for backup.
During the fracas, Grabiak said Stuart Ali, 34, and his wife, Bennii Ali, 39, both of Uniontown, were each arrested and charged for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
Grabiak said that officers were finally able to leave the scene once the offenders were taken into custody.
