LUZERNE TWP. – Volunteer firefighters in Isabella rescued a 15-year-old Brownsville boy from a mud pit after the vehicle he was riding in got stuck in a mud bog in Luzerne Township. Officials said the boy was stuck up to his waist in the mud after he got out of the vehicle when it became mired in the muck. Officials said the unidentified teen was rescued by firefighters using a winch and a small crane around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

The boy was taken to Uniontown Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The unidentified driver of the sport-utility vehicle and several other passengers fled the scene prior to arrival of emergency personnel.
