Joan Lloyd Lee
Joan Lloyd Lee of Fredericktown, Pa., (Richeyville) died October 13, 2009 in the Donnell House, Washington, Pa. She was born April 12, 1931 in Butler, Pa., the daughter of Elden E. and Mable Leighner Lloyd.
Mrs. Lee was a 1949 graduate of Butler High School and a 1954 graduate of Slippery Rock State Teachers College. She also attended the University of Pittsburgh. She had taught in Butler Township (Meridian), Wilkinsburg, East Washington, and was a substitute teacher for many years for the Washington School District.
Mrs. Lee was a member of the Garwood Baptist Church. She served as a pastor’s wife in the area for many years, was involved in Child Evangelism Outreach and taught Children’s Church in many area churches. She enjoyed giving talks to adult groups and would blend in humor with original spiritual poetry.
On June 11, 1955, she married Dr. Allen B. Lee, who survives. Also surviving are two sons: Thomas Allen Lee and his wife Susan of Washington and Bruce Lloyd Lee of Spring Grove, Pa., two grandsons, Daniel Allen Lee and step-grandson Michael Ostland-Lee of Washington.
Mrs. Lee is the last of her immediate family.
Deceased are a sister Dorothy Lloyd Thompson and her husband Harold.
Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the JOHN B. GREENLEE FUNERAL HOME, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville, Pa. where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2009 with Pastor Cliff Reynolds officiating.
Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Butler.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Child Evangelism Outreach Inc., 1654 Park Avenue, Washington, PA 15301-5965, Garwood Baptist Church or Slippery Rock University Alumni Fund.
