Ohiopyle man waives assault charges to court
An Ohiopyle man accused of using his vehicle to intentionally strike another man waived all charges against him to court Wednesday. Stephen Michael Gentile, 24, was charged in August before Magisterial District Judge Joseph M. George Jr. with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, two counts of recklessly endangering another person, two counts of harassment, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct for the alleged incident.
Gentile waived all the charges to Fayette County Court during a preliminary hearing before George.
Trooper Ozzie Mills III said the incident occurred shortly after 6 p.m. Aug. 13 in the parking lot of a business in South Union Township.
Mills said Gentile used his pickup truck to intentionally strike Larry Bartholow, 28, of Connellsville during some type of altercation between the men. While police did not reveal what prompted the fight, Mills said Bartholow suffered minor injuries as a result.
On Tuesday, Gentile waived charges before Senior Magisterial District Judge Michael Rubish of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.
Uniontown police Detective Donald M. Gmitter filed the charges following an incident on Sept. 25 in which Gentile tried to hit another man with his pickup truck after an argument at a location on Lincoln Street.
Gmitter said additional charges are pending against other people involved in the Sept. 25 altercation.
Gentile remains free on a combined $10,000 unsecured bond.
