1 min read

MONONGAHELA TWP. – A Nemacolin woman was killed Wednesday night after the car she was driving overturned in a construction zone on Route 21 in Monongahela Township, Greene County. State police said Rebecca Lee Lindsay, 31, was pronounced dead shortly after the crash by doctors at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

The crash occurred as Lindsay, driving eastbound in a 1996 Infiniti G20, drifted off the road in a construction zone about one mile east of Route 88, police said.

Police said the car initially struck construction barrels, then struck a cement barrier about 100 feet beyond the barrels before finally striking an embankment and overturning.

Police said the car was airborne for about 35 feet before finally coming to rest on its roof.

Lindsay was ejected from the vehicle. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt.

Police said Lindsay was flown from the scene by medical helicopter to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

The cause of death remains pending further investigation by the Greene County Coroner’s office.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
