University’s ‘Family Day’ to offer variety of events

Families and friends are invited to attend Family Day at Waynesburg University Saturday, Oct. 24. The university’s annual event allows families to enjoy the day with their son or daughter while meeting professors and attending various activities.

President Timothy R. Thyreen will welcome families at 9:30 a.m.

Following his welcome, students and family members will be able to participate in a meet and greet with the faculty of Waynesburg University.

The Family Day schedule of events is as follows:

9 a.m.: Registration (1st Floor Miller Hall)

9:30 a.m.: Welcome by President Timothy R. Thyreen, Senior VP for Institutional Planning, Research and Educational Services Richard “Skip” Noftzger and Acting Provost Dr. Robert Graham (Alumni Hall, 3rd Floor Miller Hall)

9:45 to 11 a.m.: Faculty Reception – meet your student’s professors (Alumni Hall, 3rd Floor Miller Hall)

11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: (Opportunity to explore many options) Lunch on your own (Benedum Dining Hall is open – $5.75); Visit the Waynesburg University Museum (Ground Floor Miller Hall) Art Gallery Show: “Amanda Tustin” (Benedum Fine Arts Gallery); Academic Department Demonstration (Locations available at registration); Student Poetry Readings (bf maiz Center, Eberly Library); and Operation Christmas Child (1st Floor Stover Campus Center).

12 p.m.: Luncheon presentations (Benedum Glass Room)

12 p.m.: A Witness to Missions (Student testimonies of their Mission Trips)

12:20 p.m.: Study Abroad Opportunities/Vira I. Heinz Recipients

12:40 p.m.: Student Internships (Student Panel)

1:30 p.m.: Varsity Football: Waynesburg vs. Bethany College (Wiley Stadium)

4:30 – 6:30 p.m.: Dinner on your own (Benedum Dining Hall is open – $7.25); and Music in Benedum Dining Hall provided by the Waynesburg University Music Students

6 p.m.: Men’s Soccer: Waynesburg vs. Thiel College (Wiley Stadium)

7:30 p.m.: Waynesburg’s Got Talent (Goodwin Performing Arts Center)
