Uniontown man charged with assaulting boy
Police have filed charges against a Uniontown man for allegedly raping and abusing a boy he was caring for several years ago. Uniontown police Detective Donald M. Gmitter said the suspect was charged in Fayette County Juvenile Court with rape by forcible compulsion, rape of a child, statutory rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, two counts of aggravated indecent assault and three counts of indecent assault.
Gmitter said the charges were filed in juvenile court and the suspect’s identity was not revealed because the alleged rape occurred when the suspect was younger than age 18.
According to Gmitter, the rape and abuse occurred prior to June 2008 while the suspect was watching the boy, who was 12 years old at the time.
The alleged incidents occurred at a Uniontown home on numerous occasions after the child got home from school.
Gmitter said on multiple occasions the suspect forced the child to perform various sex acts.
According to Gmitter, the boy told investigators that on several occasions the suspect locked him in the basement and turned out the lights.
The boy also told police that the suspect would tie ropes around his arms and then yank them off in an attempt to give him brush burns, Gmitter said.
The boy told investigators that a second suspect once came to the house while the suspect was caring for the boy and that he, too, forced the victim to perform sex acts Gmitter said, noting that police are working to identify the second suspect.
The Herald-Standard does not identify the victims of alleged sexual assault.
