Marie Carmella Voorp Yeardie
Marie Carmella Voorp Yeardie, 94, of Brownsville, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 17, 2009 with her Family at her side. Born on August 11, 1915 in Allison One, Pennsylvania she was the Daughter of Vincenzo Volpe and Luigina Piccola Volpe who hailed from Andali Province, Catanzaro, Italy and Torchiara, Salerno, Italy.
Marie was a member of The Historic Church of Saint Peter in Brownsville, Pennsylvania.
Marie was an avid bingo player for many years.
She was well known as an excellent cook, famous for her homemaker Italian dishes.
Marie was also a talented quilt maker and crocheter.
Marie was predeceased by her Parents; and her loving Husband of 64 years, James F. Yeardie, local barber for 74 years who passed away in 2001; a Daughter, Mary Louise yeardie Riley; and a Brother, Samuel Voorp.
Marie is survived by the following Children: Elizabeth “Libby” Lawver, Brownsville, Pa., Patricia McCann, Brownsville, Pa., Samuel Yeardie and wife Melody, Brownsville, Pa., and JoAnn Bakewell, Brownsville, Pa.; Grandchildren: Jack Lawver and wife Suzanne, Brownsville, Pa., James Lawver, Brownsville, Pa., Diane Lawver, Beaver Falls, Pa., Jack Griest and wife Debbie, Allison, Pa., Mary Anne Marshall and husband John, East Millsboro, Pa., Tammy Riley, Thompson, Pa., Richard Riley Jr., Thompson, Pa., Gale McCann-Barry and husband Ronald, Brownsville, Pa., Alex W. McCann II, Brownsville, Pa., Jamie Enfield and her husband Gene, Brownsville, Pa., Wallace Bakewell and wife Barbara, Hiller, Pa., Wayne Bakewell and wife Renee, West Mifflin, Pa.; 30 Great Grandchildren; nine Great Great Grandchildren; three Nieces, all the daughters of her late brother Samuel: Louise Stanislaw, Fairbank, Pa., Tillie Voorp, Brownsville, Pa., Anna Gadd, Brownsville, Pa.; several other Nieces and Nephews on her late husband’s side of the Family. Marie was also the Godmother to Sara Ann Hlebik and Louise Stanislaw. Marie will also be sadly missed by her Special Friend and Caregiver, Sandra Roberts, Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, Pa., today from 2 to 9 p.m. where a Prayer Service will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 10 a.m.
A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. in The Historic Church of Saint Peter in Brownsville, Pa., with the Rev. Father James Petrovsky as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint Peter’s Cemetery.
Wake Service will be held in the Funeral Home today at 8.
