Marion C. Franks Check

Marion C. Franks Check, age 82, of Republic, Pa., passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2009 in the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born on December 31, 1926 in Republic, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of Michael Franks and Mildred Cernkovich Franks.

Marion was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Republic.

During World War II she was employed as a Factory Worker at Christy Park in Glassport, Pennsylvania.

She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and she loved to watch her favorite soap opera, General Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents; the following brothers and sisters: John Franks, Joseph Franks, Louis Franks, Andrew Franks, Stephen Franks, Helen Franks Basili and Mildred Franks Parsons; son-in-law, Joseph Mertz; and a twin sister in infancy.

She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-three years, Frank A. Check; children: Stephanie Check Mertz, Richard A. Check and wife Barbara Chuma Check, Gregory F. Check and wife Cyndie Lynn Check and Cynthia L. “Cindy Lou” Check Eadie and husband Russell J. Eadie all of Republic, Pa.; grandchildren: Lisa R. Check and her fiance Chuck Morris of Richeyville, Pa., Richard P. Check and his wife Jessica Buttermore Check of Perryopolis, Pa., Craig A. Eadie and his fiancee Amanda L. Thistlewaite of Republic, Pa., Gina M. Check and Sarah L. Check both of Grindstone, Pa.; a step grandson, David M. Shaffer and his wife Rebecca A. Hladinec Shaffer of Republic, Pa.; three step great grand children: Dustin M. Shaffer, Dylan M. Shaffer and Colton J. Shaffer all of Republic, Pa.; a brother, Edward Franks of New Salem, Pa.; several nieces and nephews; and numerous loving friends.

Friends will be received in the ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME, 19 Legion Street, Republic, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 until 9:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held.

A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, Republic, with the Rev. Father James Clark as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Republic.

A Parish Wake Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marion’s name may be made to American Heart Association
