Pauline McCann Denlinger
0000363760-01-1.jpg Pauline (McCann) Denlinger 97 years, of Howland, Ohio, passed away at 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 in Austinwoods Nursing Home. She was born August 17, 1912 in Masontown, Pennsylvania the only daughter of James H. McCann and Bertha Maude (Townsend) McCann.
Pauline retired at the age of 65 from the Gateway Manufacturing in Masontown, Pennsylvania where she was a Supervisor in the sewing factory for 27 years. Her biggest priority as Supervisor was to make the samples to get the orders and to teach the girls the operations of the machines.
After Pauline retired, she lived with her daughter, Joyce Davidson in Howland, Ohio.
Besides sewing, her other hobbies were roller skating and bowling and she was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. In fact, she made the first yellow crying towels before Myron Cope patented them.
She was baptized at the Masontown Mennonite Church where she attended most of her childhood. After moving to her daughter’s, she was rebaptized on a vacation to the Holy Land in the river Jordan. At that time, she transferred her membership to the North Mar Christian Missionary and Alliance Church, Warren, Ohio
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Denlinger of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; her parents; and four brothers: David, Lloyd, William Henry, Elmer Wendell and James, who died at birth.
Family will receive Friends on Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 11:30 a.m. until 12 Noon at the MASONTOWN MENNONITE CHURCH on Masontown-Smithfield Road, Masontown, Pennsylvania.
Graveside Services will begin at 12 Noon.
Burial will follow in the Greendale Cemetery, Masontown, Pennsylvania.
