Ray W. Craig, Jr., age 89, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania died Tuesday, October 20, 2009 in Marquis House. He was born April 22, 1920 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania the son of Ray W. Craig, Sr. and Pauline Hall Craig.

Ray graduated from the Uniontown High School, Class of 1938.

He enlisted in the United States Army and served during World War II during the Asian Theatre of Operations.

Ray worked for REA Express as an Agent/Manager before his retirement.

He was a 50-year member of Third Presbyterian Church where he previously served as a Deacon.

Ray was a member of the American Legion Post 51.

Ray greatly enjoyed his family and vacationing at the Outer Banks. He was also an avid Penn State Football fan where he was a season ticket holder and attended many bowl games.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Catherine L. Craig.

Ray is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Gwendolyn Davison Craig; two daughters: Cheryl Stefancin and husband Pete, Hopwood, Pennsylvania and Nancy Cavanaugh and husband Bernard of Vienna, Virginia; two grandchildren: Craig Bradley Stefancin of Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania and Emilie Susan Biter and Husband Brian of Carnegie, Pennsylvania; and one Great Grandson, Brady Craig Biter of Carnegie, Pennsylvania.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown Pa., where the family will receive friends today (Thursday, October 22, 2009) from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Visitation will continue on Friday, October 23, 2009 in the THIRD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 425 Union Street, Uniontown, Pa., from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. where a Service celebrating Ray’s life will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Chris Enoch officiating.

Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery with Military Rites and Honors accorded by the General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood.

Family suggests donations may be made in his memory to: Third Presbyterian Church, Uniontown, PA 15401 or to Medi Home Hospice at 168 West Chestnut Street, Suite 19, Jefferson Court, Washington, PA 15301.

The family would like to thank Robin Newhouse and the Staff of Marquis House and also the Staff of Medi Home Hospice for their tender loving care.
