William G. “Bill” Broda
0000363982-01-1.jpg William G. “Bill” Broda age 49 years of Uniontown, Pa. died Wednesday, October 21, 2009 in the Coffey County Hospital, Burlington, Kansas. He was born December 24, 1959 in Connellsville, the son of William J. Broda and Jennie (Tintori) Broda of Uniontown.
Bill was a graduate of Uniontown High School Class of 1979, where he was a member of the basketball and football teams. After high school, he attended Penn State University, Fayette Campus for a year. He was a former assistant basketball coach at Laurel Highlands High School, a former head basketball coach at Ben Franklin and was an assistant basketball coach at Albert Gallatin High School. Bill coached in the Fayette County Church Basketball League and enjoyed being a volunteer in little league baseball and basketball leagues.
Bill was a former manager at the Uniontown Dairy Queen and more recently has been working as a Nuclear Plant Inspector for Westinghouse Corporation.
In addition to his parents, Bill is survived by his son William A. Broda of Uniontown; two sisters Carol Moretz and husband Joe of Camp Hill, Pa. and Susan Mercandante of Pittsburgh; also three nephews Matthew Mercandante, David and Michael Moretz and two nieces Maria Mercandante and Emily Moretz.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown Pa., where friends will be received on Sunday and Monday from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m.
Visitation will continue on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 from 10 until 11 a.m., with a service celebrating Bill’s life beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Joe Ritz of the Calvary Baptist Church officiating.
