Point Marion to hold Halloween parade
The annual Point Marion Halloween Parade, sponsored by the Point Marion Rotary Club, will be held Tuesday. The parade will begin at 6 p.m., with lineup for those marching in the parade scheduled for 5 to 6 p.m. in the parking lot of Herod Funeral Home, located at 501 Morgantown St.
Parade organizer David Callahan said costume judging will take place during the parade with the winners announced during a party at the Point Marion Volunteer Fire Department, where the parade will end.
Cash prizes and honorable mentions will be given age groups ranging from baby to adult. Treats will also be given to everyone who marches in the parade.
Callahan said area fire departments and organizations wishing to participate in the parade are welcome.
“This is one of the nicest small-town Halloween parades,” he said.
In addition to Callahan, other parade organizers include Phil Rishel, Kathy Griffith and Patty Shaffer.
Callahan said the Point Marion Rotary Club is accepting donations from local businesses to help pay costs associated with the parade.
