Masontown man charged with indecent assault
MASONTOWN – A Masontown man accused of indecent assault for inappropriately touching a 7-year-old girl in September is now behind bars. Masontown police Chief Joseph C. Ryan said David Scott McKeon, 28, was charged before Magisterial District Judge Randy S. Abraham with indecent assault and corruption of minors.
Ryan said officers served a warrant for McKeon’s arrest Friday after obtaining the arrest warrant Thursday.
According to Ryan, police became aware of the alleged incident early this month when representatives of Fayette County Children and Youth Services approached them.
Ryan said that when he responded to McKeon’s residence to talk to him about the allegations, he admitted that he inappropriately touched the girl Sept. 7.
Ryan said that McKeon also admitted to officers that he knew the child was only 7 years old and told police, “I did it before I thought about the consequences.”
Ryan said that McKeon told investigators that he knew it was wrong, but did it anyway. Ryan said that during an interview with the girl, she corroborated McKeon’s statements to police about the alleged incident.
The Herald-Standard does not identify the victims of alleged sexual assault.
He was placed in the Fayette County Prison on $50,000 straight cash bond following his arraignment.
A preliminary hearing will be held at a later date before Abraham.
Fayette County Court records indicate this is McKeon’s first arrest.
