Family sues over bullying

By The 1 min read

A Waynesburg couple with two children with special needs sued Central Greene School District, claiming officials ignored bullying, prompting one child to threaten suicide. The suit, filed Monday in federal court in Pittsburgh, identifies the parents and children only by initials.

The filing alleged that A.G., a 14-year-old with Asperger’s disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), was bullied so badly that the child wrote a note that “referred to A.G.’s intention to throw himself down a stairwell to make the pain of bullying cease.”

The suit contended that school officials were aware of bullying, but did nothing to stop it.

The other child, identified as S.G., is an 11-year-old with autism.

The parents, identified as M.G. and R.G., indicated that child has allergies to milk and soy, but was given both while a students at Waynesburg Central Elementary School.

District officials did not respond to a request for comment.
