Otha Joseph McGee, Jr.
Otha Joseph McGee, Jr., 76, of Connellsville Twp., died Saturday, October 24, 2009 in Scottdale Manor. He was born June 23, 1933 in Smithfield, a son of the late Otha J. and Isabel Inks Swaney McGee, Sr.
Otha (known as “Joe” and “Junior” by his longtime friends) was owner/operator of the Dump Restaurant and self employed truck driver. It began in 1975 when Joe, backed a refrigerated trailer onto a lot that used to be a garbage dump using that trailer to sell fresh produce that he brought into Pittsburgh from Florida. Cutting a door into that trailer he opened “The Trailer Fruit Market”. Over the years “The Trailer” as it was known, transformed into todays Dump Restaurant, where “Junior” sat and greeted our loyal customers and friends with a smile and a story.
Otha is survived by his wife, Nancy C. Rosensteel McGee; three sons: Staff Sgt. James Joseph McGee (currently serving in Iraq) and wife,. Terri of Lemont Furnace, Ronald Lee McGee and wife, Wendy of Perryopolis, Donald “Duck” Ray McGee and wife, Debra of Dunbar Twp.; a daughter, Amy Sue McGee of Connellsville; seven grandchildren: Cassandra Rae Hostetler and husband, Jerrod, Jeremiah McGee, Jessica Moran and husband, Josh, Jesse McGee, Joshua McGee, Rebecca McGee and Sarah McGee; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; two brothers: Charles Swaney of Chicago, IL and David Swaney of McClellandtown.
In addition to his parents, Otha was predeceased by three brothers, Robert McGee, Jack McGee, and Jan Swaney.
Friends will be received in the VITO C. MARTUCCI FUNERAL HOME, 123 S. 1st. St. West Side, Connellsville today from 1-9 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to Noon.
Interment will be private.
