Lela Mae Keener Johns
Lela Mae Keener Johns, 88, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at the home of her daughter with her family at her side. Born December 22, 1920 in McClellandtown, Pennsylvania Lela Mae was the daughter of Samuel Keener and Florence (Harvey) Keener.
Lela Mae graduated in the Class of 1939 from the now former German Township High School, McClellandtown.
She was a member of the McClellandtown Presbyterian Church, Grove Class member, and Sunday School Secretary.
Lela was retired from the Laurel Highlands School District where she worked as Cafeteria Staff at the Kennedy Elementary School.
She was an avid and gifted quilter who loved giving her quilts away to family and friends.
Lela was predeceased by her husband, Carl R. Johns in 1987; sister, Henrietta Keener Grove; and brothers, William Keener and John Keener.
She is survived by two children: Ronald D. Johns of McClellandtown and Carla M. Morganosky and her husband Thomas of Uniontown, Pa.; Grandchildren: Kimberly Sapic, Jeffrey Johns and wife Tracy, Jamie Jose-Althabet and husband Naser, Bradley Jose and wife Kathleen; and six great-grandchildren: Stephanie Sapic, Erica Sapic, Savannah Johns, Madison Johns, Jadah Jose and Ryleigh Jose.
Family and Friends will be received in the H. DAVID McELROY FUNERAL HOME, 803 Main Street, McClellandtown, on Friday, October 30, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.
Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the McCLELLANDTOWN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH with Rev. Geoffrey G. Rach and Pastor Bonnie Hartley officiating.
Interment will follow in Church Hill Cemetery, McClellandtown, Pennsylvania
