0000364234-01-1.jpg Mark Gerard Petrun, age 53, of Smithfield, Pennsylvania passed away on Monday, October 26, 2009 while hunting on his family’s farm in Greene County, Pennsy-lvania. He was born October 2, 1956 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania the son of Eli Petrun and Ruth Hamborsky Petrun formerly of New Salem, Pennsylvania.

Mark was predeceased by his father Eli last year; his mother Ruth in 1995; and by his grandparents George Petro and Susan Pipa Petro and John Hamborsky and Louise Blanc Hamborsky.

He graduated in the Class of 1974 from Uniontown Senior High School and Penn State Fayette The Eberly Campus in 1988 with an Associate Degree in Arts.

Mark had been employed for 10 years as a Coal Miner at Gateway Coal Mine and was currently a rural mail carrier with the United States Postal Service since 1987 at Farmington, Pennsylvania.

He was also employed at the Pennsylvania Police Supply at Chalk Hill, Pennsylvania.

He was an avid sportsman, hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors and hunting with family on the family farm!

He enjoyed pistol and rifle shooting competitions and was an accomplished and awarded marksman.

Mark was baptized October 21, 1956 in Saint Mary’s Greek Catholic Church, New Salem, Pennsylvania, was a former member of Saint Helen Roman Catholic Church in Shoaf, Pennsylvania and currently was a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.

He previously was a Deputy with the Pennsylvania Fish Commission.

Mark was awarded as a Special Deputy with Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and the Search and Rescue Team.

He also was a member of the Carmichaels Sportsmen’s Club and the Wharton Hunting and Fishing Club, a National Rifle Association Life Member, and a Hunter Safety Instructor

Mark was a loving husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend.

Surviving are his loving wife of 26 years, Deborah Yasenosky Petrun; daughter, Noelle Petrun, Pittsburgh, Pa.; son, Michael Petrun at home; brother, David Petrun and his wife Jane Petrun of Connellsville, Pa.; twin sister, Marlene Guzy and husband Leonard Guzy of Uniontown; nephews and nieces: David Petrun, Greg Petrun, Carolena Guzy, Jeremy Guzy, Greg Moore, Eric Moore and wife Wendy, Kristin Rozgony and her husband Mike, Matthew Yasenosky, Andrew Yasenosky great-niece and great-nephew: Kaelyn and Chase Rozgony; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George Yasenosky and Hermina Pokorny Yasenosky; one sister-in-law, Linda and Barry Moore; and one brother-in-law, George and Doreen Yasenosky.

Family will receive Friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. today and Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, October 31, 2009 until 9 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held.

Funeral Mass follows at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 180 Old Walnut Hill Road, Uniontown, with Rev. Father Alexander Pleban as Celebrant.

Private interment will be held for the Family.

The Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church Ministry of Consolation will hold Services today at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Albert Gallatin Student Coping with Cancer Program in care of Whitmarsh Funeral Home, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, PA 15436.
