Pray With Africa to speak at Waynesburg University

By Herald Standard Staff 2 min read

WAYNESBURG – Pray With Africa will speak on the campus of Waynesburg University Tuesday in an effort to inspire people to connect across continents, pray each others’ prayers and put those prayers into action. The presentation will take place on the third floor of Stover Campus Center at noon. Admission is free. A group initiative of Upper Room Ministries based in Nashville, Tenn., the organization has a long-term relationship with people of Africa through the Africa Upper Room Ministries based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Africa Upper Room Ministries translates the daily devotional guide in five languages and distributes them in 27 African countries.

Pray With Africa, which has traveled to six countries in Africa, met and documented five leaders in its own communities and experienced the ways in which those leaders are taking action to build up communities and restore culture. The group will share the documentary “Listen” which tells the stories of the five leaders and the common language of prayer.

In addition to global tribulations, Pray With Africa encourages people to learn about those in their own communities.

They are partnered with community organizations in several African countries that face different humanitarian issues, including water, war and conflict, hunger, education and poverty.

The organization believes that “building relationships is the way that Jesus has taught us to love and to serve.”

In addition to their presentation, Pray With Africa will also be available to speak to classes Monday and Tuesday.
