California Man charged
Adam J. Zapotok, 19, of Mechanicsburg was charged with retail theft for stealing an item from the Kwik Fill convenience store in California on Aug. 21, borough police said.

California police said Joseph J. Denardo, 20, of Moon Township was cited for public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and underage drinking following an incident on Wood and Strawberry streets early Friday.

Brownsville police said they served a warrant for the arrest of Richard Yaniga of Denbo during a routine traffic stop on Route 40 at 9:48 a.m. Monday.

State police said they are investigating after two men allegedly brandished firearms at a location in Luzerne Township on Aug. 26.

Burglary reported
State police said three suspects broke into the Fairchance Shop ?N Save supermarket around 1 a.m. Tuesday. The suspects also cut the locks on two vending machines and drilled open an automated teller machine. Police said the men were unable to steal anything of value during the incident. Anyone with information regarding the burglary is asked to call police at 724-439-7111.

Trees struck
Jerry Grimm suffered minor injuries when the car he was driving crashed over an embankment and into some trees on Route 40 on Aug. 26, state police said.

Dewane Shultz of Dawson told police that medicine, an engagement ring and a safe with cash in it were stolen from his residence on River Road between Aug. 6 and Aug. 9, state police said.

State police said vandals broke windows of vehicles owned by Ryan Geary and Jim Moats, both of Georges Township, and damaged the window of a home owned by Shirley Bosley, also of Georges Township, at various locations in the township Aug. 26.

State police in Belle Vernon said they fielded 852 calls for service in July, including 151 reports of criminal offenses resulting in 80 criminal arrests. Police said they investigated 39 vehicle crashes, including one fatal crash, and made seven arrests for drunken driving during the month. Additionally, officers said they issued 1,133 traffic citations and 630 written warnings in July.

Brenden R. Lawrence, 18, of Uniontown was charged with receiving stolen property following an incident on Coolspring Street on Aug. 5, state police said.

Man cited
State police said Brett Pechatsko, 19, of Fairchance was cited for harassment after he poked an unidentified woman in the temple during an altercation at a residence on Christy Lane at 9:12 a.m. Aug. 26.

Charles ?Buddy? Baker, 20, was arrested on a Greene County bench warrant for failing to make a court appearance on burglary and theft charges early Wednesday, township police said. Baker was found hiding under a trailer on Baker Lane in Nemacolin, police said, adding that there was a hole in the trailer floor leading to his hiding place.
