Mildred A. “Millie” Harasty, age 86, of Brownsville, PA passed away suddenly on Friday, September 4, 2009. She was born on December 26, 1922 in Richeyville, PA, daughter of the late Steve Santek and Frances Santek Kapalko

Millie was a 1979 alumnae of California University of Pennsylvania. She was employed by The Brownsville Area School District as the head cook and also as a teachers aid at Central and Colonial Elementary Schools until her retirement in 1985.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her step-father, Charlie Kapalko, a sister, Margaret Von Dietsch in 1971 and her brother, John Santek in 1995,

Millie is survived by her husband of 66 years, John Harasty; three children: Richard Harasty of Brownsville, PA, Kenneth Harasty and his wife, Cathleen of Clarksville (Deemston) PA, William Harasty and his wife, Lynda of Kittanning, PA; three grandchildren: Matthew Harasty and his wife, Stacie of Richmond, VA, Amanda Harasty of Portland, OR, Kayla Harasty Longdon and her husband, Robert of Saxonburg, PA.

Friends will be received in THE SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park Street Brownsville, PA on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and on Wednesday until 10 AM where a funeral service will be held with The Rev. David Chin officiating.

Entombment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park.
