Body found in truck in Mon River
State and municipal police are investigating the discovery of a badly decomposed body found Saturday afternoon inside a pickup truck that was submerged in the Monongahela River in California. Authorities in Washington County found the truck in the river, off a boat ramp on Union Street in the borough, according to emergency dispatch personnel. Police were initially called to the scene because the car of a California University of Pennsylvania student drifted into the river.
When that car was pulled out with the help of divers and the local fire department, authorities said that they found the truck.
Because of the condition of the remains, police have been unable to determine the race and gender of the person inside, but have said they believe the truck may have been there for four years.
Police remained on scene late into the evening, and were not releasing any further details as of press time.
