Linda (Fike) Grimes
Linda(Fike)Grimes, 58 years of Big Brownfield, Pa. went to be with our Lord on Monday, September 14, 2009. Linda battled “AML” Acute Myloid Lukemia for the last fourteen months with her loving family by her side.
She was born November 21, 1950 to Eva (Morgan) Fike of Markleysburg, Pa. and the late Roy Fike.
Linda and her husband Bill would have celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary this coming February 14th “Valentines Day”.
She was a member of the Brownfield United Methodist Church and a former employee of Head Start of Fayette County where she had many friends.
Linda was always a giver “never a taker” as she raised her family. A perfect example of her compassionate nature was when she welcomed her father-in-law, Ralph Grimes into her home and was his caregiver until he died years later.
Her home was always open to the neighbor’s children whom she always treated as her own. Everyone loved Linda!
She loved going shopping with her mother-in-law, Hilda Grimes and her sister-in-law Carol Evans. Her hobbies included crocheting, collecting Precious Moments and bells and simply spending time with family and the grandchildren. She also loved to go on Sunday rides with her husband Bill in the old 46 Chevy pickup truck that they restored.
Linda is survived by her husband Bill; daughters: Kimberly Helmick and husband Jeff, Big Brownfield, Pa., Eileen Mateosky and husband Jason, Lemont Furnace, Pa. and Lourie Wright and husband Jim, Bruceton Mills, W.Va.; loving grandchildren, Stephanie and Josh Helmick, Allison and Asa Wright, Matt West and Billy Pellick, Kayla Mehalic and husband Bobby, Karli Guthrie and Missy Dice whom she treasured. Also survived by her mom, Eva Morgan Fike, Markleysburg, Pa.; brothers: Tom Fike and wife Lavina, Markleysburg, Pa. and Donnie Fike and wife Janice, Listenburg, Pa.; sister Debbie Mills and husband Pete of Markleysburg, Pa.; nieces and nephews.
