Mary (Liberty) Restina Ball age 82, of Brownsville, Pa., died Tuesday, September 22, 2009 in the Golden Living Center, Uniontown, Pa. She was born on December 18, 1926 in Monongahela, Pennsylvania the Daughter of Antonio Restina and Ernesta Santangelo Restina.

Mary was a member of The Historic Church of Saint Peter in Brownsville, Pennsylvania and the Rosa Garabaldi Lodge No. 1818.

Mary attended the former South Brownsville High School and was the first person in her family to receive a college education. She earned both her Bachelors and her Masters of Art degrees in English from California University of Pennsylvania.

While she was at California University, Mary was one of five students selected for the First Fellowship in English under The Master of Arts Program.

Mary was employed as an educator at Waynesburg University, Northgate High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Fort Hill High School, Cumberland, Maryland and The Gifted Program at Brownsville Area High School until 1986 when she retired.

Mary loved and was proud of her Family and also her Italian Heritage.

She was predeceased by her Husband, John S. Ball; two sisters, Elsie Pishnery and Dorothy Battistone; brothers, Henry Restina and Alec Restina; and her Parents.

Mary is survived by two Children: Dianne Malak and her husband Joseph, West Chester, Pennsylvania and John R. Ball and wife Arlene, Brownsville, Pennsylvania; nine Grandchildren: Maria, Jason, Miles, Brandon, Celia, Bradley, Eliot, Elena and Giana; 15 Great Grandchildren

one Brother, Robert Restina, Titusville, Florida; Special Friends, Becky and Chuck Thomas; nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME at 135 Park Street, Brownsville, Pennsylvania on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. where a Prayer Service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 9:30 a.m

A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in The Historic Church of Saint Peter in Brownsville, Pennsylvania with The Rev. Father Vincent Gigliotti as Celebrant.

Wake Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
