George Arthur “Sonny” Tait, Jr.
George Arthur “Sonny” Tait, Jr., 69, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Thursday, September 24, 2009 in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born April 30, 1940 in Fairchance, Pa., a son of the late George A. Tait and Florence “Dot” Tait.
George served in the United States Army Reserves for six years. He attended the Little White Rock Church and the Fairchance Church of the Brethren.
He was employed for 30 years with United States Steel Clairton Coke Works until his retirement in 1996.
George is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley Coddington Tait; children: George A. Tait, III and wife, Lisa, Hopwood, Pa., Tina M. Tait, Uniontown, Pa., Terry L. Tait, Uniontown,Pa., Karen E. Tait and fiance’, Kerry Harring, Uniontown, Pa., Wendy J. Tait Tribble and fiance’, Dale Anderson, Smithfield, Pa. and Michael S. Tait, Sr. and wife, Christina, Fairchance, Pa.; grandchildren, George Tait, IV, James Tribble, IV, Samantha L. Tait, Michael S. Tait, Jr., Holly Harring, Ryan Tribble, Andrew “A.J.” Tait and Misty Tait; sisters, Nancy “Sis” Campbell and husband, Harry, Fairchance, Pa. and Patty Campbell and husband, Tim, Uniontown, Pa.; brother, James Tait and fiancee’, Tami Porterfield, Uniontown, many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-and-sisters-in-law.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa. on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Monday, September 28, 2009 until 10 a.m. the hour of service with Rev. Stephen S. Cole officiating.
Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park, Brownfield, Pa.
