Thanks given for drive The War and Veterans Committee of Fayette County held a food drive at Uniontown?s Giant Eagle on Sept. 5. We would like to thank all the citizens shopping there that day for helping make the drive a huge success.

Well over two truck loads of items that our troops had requested were donated as well as over $1,400. This money will be spent on the postage for mailing these items to troops overseas. Over 80 boxes have been sent and more than 100 will follow.

To help make this all possible was the management and staff of Giant Eagle. They permitted us to use their facilities for the all -day event, and we want to thank them so much for their assistance.

We must also thank all the many people and organizations that contributed their time and efforts.

Forgive me if I miss anyone but our sincere thanks go out to the following: Alan Ryan, commander of Fairchance VFW; A.J. Boni and Janet Galla and staff; Caldwell Banks Noel and Jeannie and staff; Cellphones for Soldiers, Karen Greene; Curt Matthews, North Union Supervisor; Deberah Kula and members of her staff; Jill Seper of Uniontown TeleTech; Kim Workman and Cheryl Rodeheaver of Uniontown Post Office; Joyce and Bill Pramuk whose son Sgt. Chris Pramuk is serving in Afghanistan and Cory and Troy Dally. Troy just returned from duty in Iraq. Also K-2 Engineering, Landman Brothers of Lemont, LouAnn Shaffer, our Chamber of Commerce and of course Rolling Thunder Chapter 5.

Thank you all.

They all lie

This is in response to Al Owens? commentary, ?Right Wingers Lie About D.C. March.? The last time I checked, there are no gates on the National Mall. You know, the kind you see at sports stadiums that count crowds.

Mr. Owens asked the question, ?If they can?t count people, how can people count on them?? Now, during the Presidential Inauguration, where did the left get their numbers? It?s been said millions attended, so I ask you the same question.

I just don?t understand how this is the basis for the beginning of your article. Really now? Instead of arguing about the issues the Tea Partiers were there for, you argue numbers?

As for the rest of your article, I?m going to sum it up in a few quick sentences. Everybody lies. Democrats, Republicans, name the party they lie, that?s part of the machine. Everybody has outbursts. I personally enjoy politicians and their outbursts. It makes it interesting and it grabs the public?s attention.

While I enjoy the outbursts, I could care less. What scares me the most is that the lies get worse. I?m an American that believes in the Constitution and the principles of the Founding Fathers. What?s important is getting back to those principles. Mr. Owens, they all lie.

Concern expressed

Concerning a recent letter about listening to a talk show on the radio, I hope the letter writer had no students on board when he was driving a school van and listening to the show. If he was in charge of students I hope someone of authority reacted appropriately.

No sympathy for Vick

I watched the feel sorry for Michael Vick story on CBS? ?Sixty Minutes?? show. The only reason Mikey is sorry is because he got caught, lost his job, money and fame.

I know all of you bleeding heart liberals will have an excuse for Michael, just like O.J. was innocent of murder.

It doesn?t matter how much money or fame or talent you have, you?re as worthless as pond scum if you get your jollies hurting or killing a defenseless animal.

I?m sorry, I have to go now, I have to kick my dog and kill the neighbors cat or maybe I?ll kill a deer for fun and prove I?m a macho male.
