Mary Luella (Stiers) Muhar, age 86, of Carmichaels and formerly of Greensboro, Pennsylvania died at 5:55 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WestVirginia a f t e r a l e n g t h y illness. Born June 27, 1923 in Brown, West Virginia she was the daughter of Icen Ray Stiers and Mara Ellen (Ladwig) Stiers.

Mrs. Muhar was a 1943 graduate of Mapletown High School and resided in the Greensboro and Carmichaels areas most of her life.

She was a member of the Sugar Grove Baptist Church and the Carmichaels Senior Center.

Mrs. Muhar served as an officer for the Pennsylvania Federation of Women’s Clubs and served as President of the local chapter from 1974 until 1976 and of the Greene County Chapter in 1981.

On March 17, 1943, Mary married Chester A. Muhar Sr. He died January 5, 1982.

Also deceased are her parents and sister, Laura Hart.

Surviving are two sons: Chester A. Muhar Jr. and Brian D. Muhar both of Carmichaels; three daughters: Dora L. Farrier and husband Ted of Masontown, Pennsylvania Beatrice I. Sutton and husband Ronnie of Fairchance, Pennsylvania, Esther E. Hatfield of Carmichaels; grandchildren: Theodore Farrier Jr. and his wife Joni, Eugene R. Farrier and his wife Susan, Bradley K. Farrier and his wife Paula, Ronnie D. Sutton Jr. and his fiance Regina Shea, Ramona Lint and her husband Oliver and Rhenda Sutton; nine great grandchildren; a brother, Icen R. Stiers Jr. and his wife Cleo of Lakewood, Ohio; a sister, Irene Bodjiak and her husband Don of Saint James City, Florida; nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be welcomed from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the YOSKOVICH FUNERAL HOME (724-966-5500), Martin J. Yoskovich, Funeral Director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels, Pa. where the Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2009. The Rev. Frank Menhart and Pastor Harry Hill will officiate.

Interment follows at Greene County Memorial Park.
