Police probe burglaries

1 min read

Uniontown police said they are investigating two apparent burglaries on Byrer Street Monday afternoon. According to Officer Travis Shandor, police were dispatched to the Byrer Street home of Anthony Peroni of Uniontown shortly after noon Monday.

Shandor said Peroni had called Fayette County 911 to report that when he arrived at his home he heard someone in his attic.

When police arrived, they were unable to locate a suspect but did note that a downspout was pulled from the outside of the home and an upstairs window was open.

Shandor said as officers patrolled the area around the home, they found that someone had broken into a neighboring residence as well.

He said that multiple doors and windows at the neighboring home were damaged and that items inside the home had been rummaged through.

It was not clear if items were stolen from either residence.

Shandor said the incidents remain under investigation.
