Butterfly walk offered
Those who would like to learn more about the beautiful butterflies found in Washington County can join the Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation and Monica Miller for an exciting peek into the world of butterflies on Saturday. Miller will lead a walk to observe and capture butterflies in Mingo Creek Park. Plenty of interesting information including life histories and habitat preferences of butterflies found in Washington County will be shared during this program.
The butterfly walk will begin at 1 p.m. The group will meet at Shelter 1, Mingo Creek Park. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation at 724-228-6867.
A limited number of butterfly nets and collecting jars will be available. Those participating in the walk should dress for light hiking, bring along a bottle of water and wear a hat.
There is no fee for this program.
Mingo Creek County Park is located 12 miles east of Washington off of Route 136.
