Fire destroys Dunbar Township woman’s home

DUNBAR TWP. – The state police fire marshal has ruled the cause of a house fire Friday at 114 Limestone Hill as accidental. According to police, the fire broke out at 3:45 p.m. at the two-story residence owned by Patti Hatfield, who was not home at the time.

Police said the fire was discovered by a construction crew that was working on the Falls Avenue bridge project after they saw smoke coming from the roof vents of Hatfield’s home.

Police added the house was completely destroyed causing an estimated $150,000 in damage.

Firefighters from Morrell Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene with Fayette EMS assisted by Dunbar, Monarch, DL&V, Connellsville, Connellsville Township, Dawson, Bullskin, Perry Township, Smock, South Connellsville, Everson, North Union Township, Uniontown and West Leisenring volunteer fire companies.

Police reported fire crews remained on the scene until after 9 a.m. Saturday.
