A Uniontown man is behind bars after police found illegal drugs and more than $2,000 in cash during a raid at his home. City police Officer Jamie Holland said Anthony Pratt Jr., 23, of 73 E. Wine St. was charged before Magisterial District Judge Michael M. Metros with two counts of possession of crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with public records following the raid last week.

Police Detective Donald M. Gmitter said that he secured a search warrant for Pratt’s residence after police received multiple tips regarding suspected drug trafficking at the home.

Gmitter said a team of Uniontown police officers, state constables and members of the Fayette County Drug Task Force raided the residence at 7:26 a.m.

Constable Phil Michael told police that when he entered an upstairs bedroom, he spotted Pratt throw an item out the window.

Holland said police recovered a small plastic bag containing suspected crack cocaine from the roof of the home, as well as a digital scale.

Holland said officers also found $2,000 under a bedroom mattress.

Holland said police K9 Officer Michael C. Garrow Sr. and police dog Leo were then brought in to search the residence, and Leo helped uncover several additional prescription medication bottles with multiple types of pills in them, plastic bags and another digital scale.

Gmitter said that officers also seized Pratt’s vehicle from the residence.

Pratt was placed in the Fayette County Prison on $50,000 straight cash bond following his arraignment.

At the time of the raid, Gmitter said Pratt was free from prison after posting bond in an unrelated drug case.

A preliminary hearing for Pratt is scheduled to be held at a later date before Metros.
